1981-S Type II Lincoln Deep Cameo Proof Cent - Superb Red Gem. The rare Type 2 1981-S Lincoln Cent is very difficult to find with minimal or no toning and little or no Proof haze. The coin will have DEEP CAMEO frosting on the obverse and reverse devices and will have the scarce Type II mint mark. Remember unlike 1979, in 1981 all mint marks are fairly clear. In 1981, IT IS THE SHAPE OF THE MINT MARK THAT IS THE DETERMINING DIAGNOSTIC AS TO WHETHER A MINT MARK IS THE COMMON TYPE I MINT MARK (SYMMETRICAL) OR SCARCE TYPE II MINT MARK (ELONGATED OR FLAT ON TOP WITH BULBS ON THE ENDS OF THE 'S').
