Nice lustrous, pretty much toning-free BU or better coin. This is the hard to find 1982-P 'No FG' (No Designer Initials on the reverse) variety. This variety generally has heavy vertical die polishing lines on the obverse to the left and right of the portrait. I subscribe to the same theory put forth by Fred Weinberg (one of the leading dealers and error authorities nationally). Namely, the heavy die polishing of the planchets at the Philadelphia Mint in 1982 that resulted in the obverse field lines, is the same process that created the reverse without the designer initials on this interesting variety. |
