Scheidts Beer Trays, Metal
2 Scheidts Beer Ale Trays, all marked 'Scheidts, Valley Forge Beer, Rams Head Ale, Prior, Norristown PA.' with full color picture of Washington & his troops at Washington's Headquarters, Valley Forge. Priced each and sold separately. We will describe each tray and show front and back images of each, referring to them in order as Tray A and Tray B. Trays A & B are the same size, measuring 11 1/4 inches in diameter and sitting 1 1/4 inches in height.
Both are in overall good shape, but they are far from mint -- they all show age/wear flaws from use and time, which will be described separately below in detail. Please note that we try to describe everything we see to be fair, but most of this won't be visible in the images due to them being shot further away to show the whole trays (the white "hot spots" in the images are reflection from the camera lighting on the metal surfaces). Also, none of this is unexpected given the age and probable use of these trays. There are no major dents, cracks, bends, etc. Regardless they are still very presentable and collectable.
If you look closely at Tray A at an angle in bright light you'll see many flaws to the center decor, but otherwise they are not apparent, and most wouldn't see them. However, these flaws from use/age include many rubbed areas, scratches, lines, dots, etc. What is apparent on general viewing is some wear to the upper red tray rim, particularly one spot about 3/4 inch in width where you see silver from the red paint being worn away. Elsewhere on the rim you can see silver lines, dots, etc. The most wear is visible on the blue bottom of the tray, as to be expected. There are scratch lines, dots, rubbed wear, etc. On the outer blue side to the tray there is some evidence of wear but not bad, but on close looking you will see some scratches, rubbed spots, dots, etc.
With Tray B, like with Tray A, you don't see flaws to the main interior decoration until you look at an angle in bright light. Then you'll see on Tray B the many surface rubbed marks/areas, scratches, pin dots, etc. This tray has much less wear to the red upper rim than A, with no silver areas or lines. There is a little wear to the rim in terms of dots, small scratches, but nothing bad at all. This tray has similar wear to the outer blue sides. What it does have is more wear to the underside blue base on which the tray sits, with more scratch lines, dots, rubbed areas, and some dark rust spots. However, given that the top side is in better shape than Tray A, of the two trays, it's in the best overall shape.
