Bisque Toothpick holder Girl with Umbrella This figural toothpick holder is the very one shown as figure #667 on p. 59 of the 1992 book prepared by members of the National Toothpick Holder Collector's Society. I myself laid out that page for the photo shoot. This bisque toothpick holder belonged to my mother and was in her collection for many years.



It stands 5 1/4 inches tall and most likely was made in Germany in the 1900-1918 period. It is painted in shades of blue with some gold color highlights on the dress, the collar and the underside of the umbrella. Her cheeks and lips are done in pink. If you collect German bisque dolls, this would make a charming go-along from the same time period. A charming blond young girl holds umbrella and is standing by a woven basket at her side. It is unsigned. It is in excellent condition.

Bisque Toothpick holder Boy with Racket This figural toothpick holder is very similar to the one shown as figure #664 on p. 59 of the 1992 book prepared by members of the National Toothpick Holder Collector's Society. I myself laid out that page for the photo shoot. This bisque toothpick holder belonged to my mother and was in her collection for many years.



It stands 5 inches tall and most likely was made in Germany in the 1900-1918 period. It is painted in shades of blue and pink with some gold color highlights on the racket, shirt shoes and pants. His cheeks and lips are done in pink. If you collect German bisque dolls, this would make a charming go-along from the same time period. A charming blond young boy holds a racket and ball in his upraised right hand and is carrying a woven basket on his back. What is fascinating is the writing in pencil that is on the inside of the base. I can't quite make it out but am sure it is in English. It is unsigned. It is in excellent condition.

toothpick holder: D & M #65 with good gold This is the Polished Mirror pattern aka #65 from the Duncan and Miller Glass Company of Washington PA. It is a geometric fire-polished toothpick holder enhanced here by the addition of gold decoration on the top panels. It was made in the 1900-1905 period. It is in excellent condition as far as the glass goes and the gold decoration is in very very good condition. Add it to your collection today. It was valued at $40 for the clear one in the 2004 price guide which accompanies Heacock's 1000 Toothpick holder in which it is shown on page 84 as figure 650.

toothpick holder Pennsylvania with gold Produced by the United States Glass Company circa 1898, this Pennsylvania pattern toothpick holder is known as also known by the earlier name of Balder. It carries the pattern number 15,048 according to the Bredehoft book on page 198 where it is shown.

This is the toy spooner, not the real toothpick shape as can be seen by its measurements. Both are collected as toothpick holders in this pattern. It stands 2 3/8 inches tall and 2 1/4 inches wide. It was decorated by the Oriental Glass concern. It is valued in the 2005 book at $55 with gold decoration. The gold on this example is simply outstanding. One can imagine what a complete table set with this pattern would look like, just stunning.

toothpick holder: Diamond Spearhead green This toothpick holder was produced by the Northwood Glass Works in 1902 as part of the National Glass Company. It stands 2 1/4 inches tall. It is shown on page 149 of the Second Edition Bredehoft book.

This particular green toothpick holder must have just barely gotten any refiring as the opalescent rim is hard to see but visible. The more heat in the refiring process the more the points of the rim melted. As you can see, the points in this pattern are almost untouched by the heat. That makes this a scarce example.

The toothpick holder is in excellent condition and ready to join your collection.

Jefferson Optic apple green toothpick holder This Jefferson Optic apple green toothpick holder can be seen be seen in Heacock 1000 as plate #138. Here it is not enameled, but carries a souvenir lettering of Saugatuck, MI referring to Saugatuck Michigan, a popular tourist destination for decades, now popular with the gay crowd of the Midwest. It is in excellent condition and ready to go in your Early American Pattern glass collection or Michigan memorabilia collection.

Noritake Deco Tree by Lake toothpick holder This 2 1/2 inch tall footed toothpick holder is very unusual in that it carries the words Del. Water Gap on its side. It is done in the fairly common pattern collectors refer to as Tree by Lake, a variant of the Tree in the Meadow pattern distributed by the Larkin Soap Company as premiums. This toothpick holder is in great shape. It may have been part of a smoking set or a condiment set. I have seen other items with this very souveniring in the past, particularly on a figural ashtray of a dog on the ashtray, but in 20 years of collecting this is the first time I have seen it on a toothpick holder. To see a piece with the same souveniring see page 46 of Spain's Noritake A-Z book, plate A.9. It is signed with the standard green wreath mark. The piece is in excellent condition and ready to join your Noritake or toothpick holder collection.

Lundberg Studios 2005 toothpick holder Made by the famous Lundberg Studios in California, this toothpick holder in a footed pedestal tumbler shape is in a beautiful irridescent Aurene finish. It measures 2 5/8 inch tall.

It is signed Lundberg Studios 2205 with an incised number of 072406. A wonderful example of the high artistry and craftmanship still available in America today making art Glass. Add it to your toothpick or Contemporary American Art glass collection today.

Lot - 7 vintage toothpick holders china glass This lot of 3 glass and 4 china toothpick holders is an interesting group. It would be a great Christmas gift to a new collector or just add it to your own toothpick collection!

From left to right in the photo are:

1) MIB Made in Taiwan Fine China Porcelain TP with real wooden toothpicks included. This is a reproduction of an early 20th century German Elfinware pattern. Cute! 2) Vintage Early American Pattern Glass: Bellaire (Heacock 1000 #663), clear glass, 1885-1890, made in Bellaire Ohio at Bellaire and Findley plant. It has a flake under the top rim and two chips on the bottom rim but still would look cute filled with violets or dried flowers! 3) Vintage German Elfinware pin cushion in shape of lady's shoe. Excellent condition from 1900-1920 era. A great sewing collectible. This sat on a sewing table ready to darn socks or mend! 4) Vintage clear glass Barrel from 1890-1910. It has two rim flakes but the bottom is perfect. 5) This cute little TP is a souvenir of Montrose Scotland a lady gave to my Mom in 1978. On the bottom it reads: Liverpool RD Pottery, LTD, England, Fine Bone China, Reg Design 925553. It features a Tartan Plaid over a wreath of holly? It is in excellent condition. 6) Yee-haw! Cowboy boot souvenir of Virginia. Tan clay boot shaped TP which was probably purchased at a highway gift shop in the 1960-1970s. 7) Vintage milk glass Banded Barrel. It has one tight hairline crack at rim. It dates from the 1885-1900 era and is American made.

There you have it! A great little lot of toothpick holders! Add them to your collection today!
 

Toothpick holder: Jefferson souv custard This custard glass New Hampshire souvenir of Twin Mt, N.H. stands 2 1/2 inches tall and is 2 3/8 inches wide at the mouth. It is the Ring & Bead pattern of Jefferson, produced about 1910-1915. Excellent condition.

toothpick holder - Jeff Optic amethyst In operation from 1900-1913 first in Steubenville Ohio then Follansbee West Virginia, the Jefferson Glass Company produced this toothpick holder in amethyst glass and called it their Optic pattern. It still has remnants of the original gold trim along its top band. I don't believe this was a souvenir piece, which makes it harder to find than the common souvenired ones. It is in excellent shape. Add it to your toothpick or Jefferson glass collection today.

It can be seen in a light purple version on page 50 of Heacock 1000 as #192, but enamel decorated there.

Riverside Empress toothpick holder w/gold This Early American Pattern glass example of Riverside Glass of Wellsburg, West Virginia is known as the Empress pattern, circa 1898. This toothpick can be seen as plate 103 on page 22 of Heacock's A-Z book. It is in excellent condition with excellent gold (see close-up pics). In the 2004 price guide by the National Toothpick Holder Collector Society (NTHCS), it is now valued at $240. Buy it for less than that here now.
