5333

Fort Ticonderoga 2 handled blue Graack vase Designed and executed by Henry Graack, Jr. while he worked in New York State at the Fort Ticonderoga Pottery Company in Ticonderoga New York, this two handled classically shaped vase stands 4 1/2 inches high and is 6 1/4 inches wide from handle to handle.

It is done is a deep robin'e egg blue semi-matte glaze and is glazed both inside and outside. The base clay appears to be perhaps a redware clay as it appears a mustard yellow color, much like Muncie Pottery.

I found the following information on the Old Florida Pottery website (www.oldfloridapottery.com/):

In 1921 Mary sold her interest in the Manatee River Pottery to potters from Kolding, Denmark, Henry A. Graack, Senior and Henry Junior. Mary moved to Orlando. The Graacks changed the name of the pottery to Graack Pottery and continued production in Bradentown with plans for national distribution through the Manufacturing Jewelers Export Company, Inc. of New York City. A few years later the Graacks left Bradentown, Henry Senior to return to Denmark and Henry Junior leaving for New York City. The younger Graack would return to Florida in a few years. n 1935, Henry Graack Jr., who had left Bradentown in 1924, was making pottery at Ft. Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain in upstate New York, when he was invited to Ocala, Florida and the Silver Springs by William Rae, owner of the springs. Graack spent the next thirty-one years, until his death in Ocala in 1966, making souvenir pottery for tourists at the spring.

So, it appears that Henry Graack, Jr worked at the Fort Ticonderoga Pottery Company from 1924 - 1936, which would explain the mostly Art Deco lines of this vase.

This gorgeous vase is in excellent shape and carries a double incised mark on the bottom stating simply Fort Ticonderoga. Add it to your American Art Pottery or Art Deco collection today.

5106

Massive Italy Raymor? Bitossi? vase Standing 7 inches tall with a top opening of 5 1/2 inches and a circumference of 32 inches, this is one serious piece of Mid-century Italian pottery. It weighs a little under 6 pounds!

Signed on the bottom rim on the side is the word Italy impressed. There is a remnant of where the label once was. I would like that it belongs to the Raymor line but without a label, impossible to say.

What I can say is that this is one beautiful piece of Italian pottery. The body of the piece is an orange over blue mottled background onto which 4 abstract stylized flowers are shown with a yellow green glaze highlighting the leaves. Both the flowers and leaves are done using negative space, an interesting technique. Both the inside and the bottom are fully glazed in this gorgeous Tuscan blue color. It is in excellent condition and would look equally stunning as a jardiniere or plant holder as well as anchoring a Noguchi or Paul McCobb Eames era piece of furniture. Add it to your collection today.

SMF Schramberg Gobelin 4 Deco flower arranger This stunning piece of pottery comes from West Germany from the Schramberg factories. SMF Schramberg Majolika Fabrik vase Gobelin decor by Eva Zeisel.

Eva Zeisel worked at SMF from 1928 and 1930, during this time she designed the Gobelin pattern.

It is very Art Deco in its form and decoration. The pattern is called Gobelin 4. It features a gray background upon which bars of burgundy, cobalt blue, yellow, orange and green are randomly placed to create a Clarice Cliff like effect.

The form is a flower arranger. It has its original 19 hole lid, which is often missing. It stands 4 inches tall and is 5 1/2 inches wide at its widest point. This Art Deco form was used to arrange dried flowers. An up-and-coming collectible, West German Schramberg pottery will surely gain in value in the coming years, especially now that it is known that the incomparable Eva Zeisel designed this decoration.

The piece is in excellent condition with no wear to the paint. It is marked with the standard SMF mark on the bottom. Add it to your European or Zeisel pottery collection today.

3998

Rookwood Deco blue flower 1926 2865 vase This Rookwood 1926 vase carries the number 2865 on its base along with the Rookwood flame trademark. In the Peck Pottery book written in 1985, this shape is shown on page 147 and attributed to the designer ACM which stands for Albert Cyrus Munson.

The vase stands 5 3/4 inches high, the top has a 2 1/2" opening. It is in excellent condition.

The color is a beautiful deep robins egg blue and the glaze is neither a high gloss nor matte, but in between the two. It is very Deco in its use of abstract flowers in a wide band in the middle of the piece as well as a band of geometric triangles on its neck. A pleasing shape in a great color from a highly collected American pottery company from the Art Deco era. Add it to your collection today!
