2 Texas Ware #146 vintage speckled food trays These funky and highly collectibles cafeteria tray were made in Dallas, Texas by the Texas Ware Plastics & Manufacturing Company and are so marked in embossed letters on the bottom of each bowl. Like the very popular nested mixing bowls, they come in a wide variety of speckled confetti color combinations.

The tray has six indentations in it, one for cutlery, one for a milk carton or cup as it has an indented circle, 2 rectangular ones, one round one and a larger rectangular one for food. These vintage food trays are fabulous for a picnic or outdoor buffet. Just hand them out and watch the fun begin. Because they are meant for commercial or industrial use, they come out of the dishwasher sparkling!

Each tray measures 10 inches wide by 14 inches long. They are stackable and easy to store.

This lot is for a pair of Texas Ware #146 speckled trays in excellent vintage condition. The main shade of one tray is a deep and lustrous avocado green with primary inclusions of white and red and secondary inclusions of teal and daffodil yellow. The second tray is a deep and lustrous daffodil yellow with primary inclusions of red and chocolate brown and secondary inclusions of chartreuse and white. Each tray is in very good vintage condition. It has normal vintage wear of some light knife marks in the indented areas but retains a good glossy finish in the interior. Gorgeous glossy finish on the outside. FREE of chips, cracks, burns OR discoloration. You will NOT be disappointed!!

Recently one has seen a Texas Ware vintage speckled Melmac bowl on the counter of Rachael Ray's TV kitchen. In fact, in late 2007, Food Network is now having produced and marketing a "Garbage Bowl" in a deep pumpkin color under the Rachael Ray name.

Texas Ware #118 vintage deep salmon bowl These funky and highly collectibles mixing bowls were sold as a set in three sizes. They were made in Dallas, Texas by the Texas Ware Plastics & Manufacturing Company and are so marked in embossed letters on the bottom of each bowl.

Background on the line:

The largest bowl, the #125 measures 11 1/4inches across and stands 5 1/4 inches tall. The middle bowl #118 measures 9 3/4 inches across and stands 4 1/2 inches tall. The smallest bowl #111 measures 8 inches across and stands 4 inches tall.

This bowl is the Texas Ware #118 deep salmon pink base color speckled mixing bowl in fair vintage condition. Its primary inclusions are white and teal. Its secondary colors are red, chartreuse and turquoise. This is one of the deepest color pink bowls I have sold in the past three years selling them.

It has a lot of wear and knife marks in its center. The glossy finish is pretty much gone from the interior though one can turn the inside from side to side and still see some sheen but just barely. A good bowl to use and have no fear. I paid $40 for it and am passing it along to a fellow collector. I did not keep it in my collection as it has too much wear for my collecting needs. I keep six bowls of each size in my personal collection.

It would look great on a kitchen shelf as the outside has its high gloss finish still. It is a good bowl to put up on a shelf or to use so have no fear. FREE of cracks, burns OR discoloration. You will NOT be disappointed!!

It is in very good vintage condition and some knife marks in its center. The glossy finish is pretty still there and one can still see good sheen when one turns the inside of the bowl from side to side. A good bowl to use and have no fear. set 5 vintage Raffiaware bowls sherbets This lot consists of 5 serving pieces: 1 lime green 2 1/2 inch tall x 5 1/8 inch wide, flared side bowl, 2 peach 2 7/8 inch tall x 4 1/2 inch wide bowls, 2 pedestal base, 3 inch tall, 6 oz. sherbets, one in hot pink and one in chartreuse. All are in good vintage condition with normal wear.

These were part of a line called Abaca Grainware Thermal, made by the Mallory Randall Corp, Brooklyn New York. Mallory Randall started in business in 1947 and primarily engaged in the design, manufacture, and sale of food and drink accessories. Mallory Randall also made lines called Malloware and Mallo Belle melmac dinnerware!

This line is funky and would fit right in with a tiki bar or retro bar. A clear plastic outside layer permits one to see the raffia or burlap fabric in the middle layer. The inside is colored plastic. I have now seen 13 colors in this line: Mint green, Pink, Dark Pink (hot pink), Peach, Light Blue / Turquoise,
Avocado green, Lemon Yellow, Lime Green, Purple (on brownish side), Pumpkin Orange/ Salmon, Mocha. Beige, and Chartreuse

What made these great and still makes them useful for picnic or camping or just plain yee-haw retro fun is that these cups are for either hot or cold drinks. Whether iced tea, lemonade, java, or hot chocolate with mini marshmallows floating on top, this is a fun way to serve them.

At an recent antique show where I set up to sell here in Vermont, I learned from a few boomers that this pattern was distributed through gas stations in the late 1950s and 1960s here in New England.
