| This Royal Haeger 1836 Jewel Tone 10' 'ashbowl' is a beauty. The 'Jewel Tone' glaze shown on this piece can be seen as early as 1958 in the company catalogs. Later called Ebony/Jewel Tone, this type of glaze was also produced by the Italian ceramicists who produced items for the Raymor line imported into this country around the same time. The glaze was created by placing pieces of real glass on the matte black glaze and firing it together. The melting glass fused with the matte glaze, producing a beautiful effect which looks like crystals are included in the piece. It is stunning! This piece has one tiny flake on one of the raised feet on the bottom. It does not detract from the piece in my opinion. Add it to your Mid Century pottery or Royal Haeger ashtray collection today. |
