Manufacturer: Jefferson Glass Co. In operation from 1900-1913 first in Steubenville Ohio then Follansbee West Virginia, the Jefferson Glass Company produced this toothpick holder in amethyst glass and called it their Optic pattern. It still has remnants of the original gold trim along its top band. I don't believe this was a souvenir piece, which makes it harder to find than the common souvenired ones. It is in excellent shape. Add it to your toothpick or Jefferson glass collection today.
It can be seen in a light purple version on page 50 of Heacock 1000 as #192, but enamel decorated there.
I am a long time member and past President (1988) of the National Toothpick Holder Collectors Club. I guarantee the authenticity of this TP. For more info on toothpick holders as a great collectible, visit the National Toothpick Holder Collectors Society web page at (www.nthcs.org)
