Manufacturer: Noritake
This Noritake Deco VP 771 motif griffin intact 5" three piece syrup set is wild! It's exact design is shown on p. 130 of Van Patten Second Series as Plate #771. The syrup set shape is found on p. 146 on Spain I as C.108. Featuring vibrant yellow, rust red, bright blue, purple and green, this is probably inspired by a European style, either Italian or Gouda. See the wares of Deruta for comparable items. There is a also a stylized "fleur-de-lis" in the center of the plate, which is flanked by two mythological griffin type birds. Red wreath mark. The underplate is unsigned as was typical with these multi-piece sets. This is also the part of the set which is often missing. All pieces are in excellent condition.

I am a long time member of the Noritake Collectors Society. Come read about our great club, our newsletter and consider joining us in our appreciation and pursuit of Noritake!
