Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this Ballard #1 blue square ashtray is the #1 shape but is marked with neither a number or the Ballard signature. It is from his earlier period as the glaze does not completely cover the bottom. Excellent condition.
