Produced by the Cheshire CT firm of Bovano (started in 1953 by John BOnsignor, Gene VAn Leight and Warren NOden), this 8 inch wide three lobe ashtray features a stunning pattern and color combination. It has bold stylized red 4 petal flowers on a black background. This pattern is shown on page 69 of the Spring 2003 Modernism magazine in Alan Rosenberg's article on enamel.
The bottom has three green felt pads and the gold circle label which reads Handcrafted by Bovano of Cheshire Conn. It is in good shape but does have some flakes to the enamel on the rim but because of the black body color they are very difficult to see. This would be a good cabinet piece or be wild and use it.
