In 1949 to 1951, the Taylor Smith Taylor company issued the scarce gray LuRay with a few decals. This bold green leaf and brown branch decal called Coffee Tree was designed by Walter Dorwin Teague who designed the Conversation line which launched in 1951 and was made until 1954. I like the highly stylized and abstract design on the muted gray glaze. The pattern carried the standard LuRay mark and a datestamp of 9/49
These pieces of the pattern are 6 coupe soups or flat soups. They are all in excellent condition. In fact, they appear unused.
Impressive and useful pieces to add to your LuRay collection or American Dinnerware collection today.
In the 1995 LuRay book by Meehan, a regular gray LuRay coupe soup is listed at $18-$25. This exact decal can also be seen on page 86 of that fine reference book. Price is each. Order all 6 if you like. |
