This Noritake Art Deco compote has a decoration that may well have been inspired by exposure to the designs of Clarice Cliff. The abstract stylized flower blossoms in the black band recall her treatment. The center of the compote is Noritake's standard tan luster. However, it is the decoration of the black rim which transforms this piece and makes it stunning and an important example of Noritake's Art Deco whimzy. Three butterflies float near the three floral fields, each one slightly different. Gold decorated rum and foot.
