Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this Ballard 4 inch tall maple syrup jug is not signed on the bottom but matches others in my collection which are signed. The glaze is a light yellow with an overglaze application of a rose colored drip glaze. The word VERMONT is in relief on the front. This Vermont marked syrup jug was probably a contract piece done by Ballard for a local syrup maker. Excellent condition. |
