Manufacturer: Stanley Ballard, Vermont Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this biomorhpically shaped low dish appears unassuming until it is turned over. What is surprising is on the back of the piece. This is an example of Ballard's premium work. This is incised on the bottom with the following words: Northeast Shrine Association Burlington Vermont Sept 9-10 1960. Ballard made a square plate also as a souvenir of this Shrine convention, but this shape is harder to find. It measures 5 1/2 inches at its widest point and is in s standard green glaze.
It is in excellent shape and would make a great addition to both a Ballard collection or a collection of Shriner collectible items.
