Manufacturer: Stanley Ballard, Vermont
Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this is a Ballard #46 grey slant front ball vase. This is an unusual Ballard vase, featuring an opening which is cut on the diagonal as opposed to a flat top. Impressed mark. Excellent condition.

The vase stands 3 1/2 inches tall at its tallest point at the top rim and is about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. What is also unusual is that it still carries its original price written in pencil on the bottom of $1.75. That was a pretty good price for a piece of studio pottery back in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Add it to your Mid-century Modern or Vermont Art pottery collection today.
