Circa: 1950-1970 Manufacturer: Culver Glass Company, Brooklyn, New York
The Culver Glass company began in Brooklyn, New York in 1939, founded by Irving Rothenberg. Culver Glass features real 22-karat gold decoration, used effusively and magnificently especially from the late 1950s on through the 1960s.
In this set of 7 Culver Chantilly pattern glasses, each glass stands 5 1/2 inches tall and is 2 5/8 inches across the top.
This pattern is known as Chantilly and features three horizontal rows of gold floral and leaf designs with shadowing. In between the larger elements there are small flower of leaf designs in an abstract stylized manner. There is a band of gold embossed flowers at the top of the pattern. All glasses are in excellent condition as far as the glass itself is concerned. Five of the seven also still show the gold Culver signature on the side. Two of them have lost their signature, probably to the dishwasher. All in all, I came by this set reasonably and am selling it the same way. Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of the past. It is ready for your home today.
