Circa: 1986 Manufacturer: Terry Crider, Ohio
Terry Crider started his glasswork in 1976. He is self taught. This studio glass artist has put out a limited amount of work over the past 36 years. He uses NO MOLDS and his only help has been his wife Donna. I had email from Terry and Donna stating that he doesn't think it would be fair to the collectors to make any of the same things again. They have decided, if they do make glass again, they are not going to make anything that they have made in the past. He stopped blowing glass around 1990 and didn't start blowing again until 1999. This toothpick is in mint condition and is signed with Crider on the bottom and the year 1986.
This Crider toothpick holder is hand blown glass - it features his King Tut decoration on an dark emerald green base glass AND the hand-threaded glass work done by Donna Crider. The dark green of the base glass makes the iridized surface really stand out. Terry Crider himself indicated to me in an e-mail that he made fewer than 20 examples of this particular shade of green!
It's hard to imagine the amount of work that went into this beautiful, hand made toothpick holder.
This little toothpick holder stands about 2 inches high at its highest point and 2 1/2 inches wide at top. It is a fantastic piece of art glass! It is in perfect condition. |
