Shields Fifth Avenue Men's Hobo Caddy Catch All
This is a delightful character catch all with lots of places to put coins, cufflinks, tie clips and other trinkets.
Company History: Shields Fifth Avenue was a men's jewelry outlet. They were located at 302 5th Ave. (near 31st St.) from the late 1940s until 1957/58. At that time they moved uptown to 401 5th Ave. to the other side of 5th Ave. at 37th St. The business closed in the late 1960s. The name Shields Fifth Avenue, however, continued to be used as a registered trademark by Watchbands Inc. of North Attleboro, Mass.
There is some paint loss, here and there, on his coat that appears to be intentional, as it goes so well with his Hobo motif. Other than the noted loss, his condition is excellent.
Has original paper label.
Circa: Late 1940s to late 60s
Condition: Excellent - Some paint wear/loss
Size: 10.5 inches tall
